Biografía
María Fernanda “Mafe” Izaguirre (Venezuela, 1978) es una artista radicada en Nueva York, asesora de diseño estratégico y especialista en el desarrollo de plataformas transmedia. Su práctica explora la intersección entre la cibernética y la espiritualidad híbrida.
Izaguirre ha desarrollado y presentado sus Máquinas Sensibles (Sensitive Machines™), Máquinas Postpoéticas (Postpoetic Machine) y otros dispositivos que investigan los sistemas espirituales híbridos y la mente artificial, inspirada por el pensamiento posthumanista y las proposiciones de Marvin Minsky y Gordon Pask. Su trabajo indaga cómo la cooperación entre humanos y tecnología puede amplificar la conciencia y expandir las formas de percepción.
Las Máquinas de Izaguirre se han exhibido en galerías, espacios alternativos y seminarios en Estados Unidos, incluyendo Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn y Wasta (Dakota del Sur). Su proyecto The Postpoetic Machine recibió en 2024 el Support for Artists Award del New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), patrocinado por TheaterLab (Nueva York). En 2023, fue seleccionada por el FST StudioProjects Fund en apoyo a su práctica de estudio. Anteriormente, fue becaria alternativa del programa Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship en Nuevos Medios (2021), becaria de More Art (2020) y beneficiaria de una subvención del Queens Council for the Arts (2020).
Izaguirre fue artista residente en el centro comunitario DreamYard Project en el Bronx (2018–2019) y es miembro de la Asociación de Artistas de Long Island City (NY), así como de la Global Posthuman Network. Es además cofundadora y exdirectora creativa (2017–2021) de ROOM: A Sketchbook for Analytic Action, una plataforma psicoanalítica transmedia creada junto a la Dra. Hattie Myers (IPTAR), galardonada con el Gradiva® Award en la categoría de Nuevos Medios (2018), otorgado por la National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP).
Bio
María Fernanda “Mafe” Izaguirre (Venezuela, 1978) is a New York–based artist, strategic design consultant, and specialist in the development of transmedia platforms. Her practice explores the intersection of cybernetics and hybrid spirituality.
Izaguirre has developed and presented her Sensitive Machines™, Postpoetic Machine, and other devices that investigate hybrid spiritual systems and the artificial mind, inspired by Posthumanist philosophy and the propositions of Marvin Minsky and Gordon Pask. Her work examines how cooperation between humans and technology can amplify consciousness and expand the ways we perceive reality.
Izaguirre’s Machines have been exhibited in galleries, alternative spaces, and seminars across the United States, including Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Wasta, South Dakota. Her project The Postpoetic Machine received the Support for Artists Award from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) in 2024, sponsored by TheaterLab (New York). In 2023, she was awarded the FST StudioProjects Fund in support of her studio practice. She was previously a Designated Alternate Awardee in New Media of the Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship Program (2021), a More Art Fellow (2020), and a recipient of a Queens Council for the Arts grant (2020).
She was artist-in-residence at DreamYard Project in the Bronx (2018–2019), and is a member of the Long Island City Artists Association (NY) and the Global Posthuman Network. Izaguirre is also the co-founder and former Creative Director (2017–2021) of ROOM: A Sketchbook for Analytic Action, a psychoanalytic transmedia platform created with Dr. Hattie Myers (IPTAR), which received the Gradiva® Award in the New Media category (2018) from the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP).
