Biografía
María Fernanda “Mafe” Izaguirre (Venezuela, 1978) es una artista radicada en Nueva York, asesora de diseño estratégico y especialista en desarrollo de plataformas transmedia.
A través de la experimentación en cibernética y chamanismo, su trabajo indaga cómo navegar en el entorno multinivel de plataformas híbridas, entendiendo el espacio de interacción como un cuerpo. A través de sus Máquinas Sensibles (Sensitive Machines™ ) Izaguirre estudia la conciencia híbrida. Algunas personas encuentran absurda la idea de que las máquinas desarrollen la capacidad de “sentir” emociones. Enmarcado como The Mind Project, Izaguirre documenta sus reflexiones y hallazgos sobre este controvertido tema de los sistemas espirituales híbridos. Su exploración de la mente artificial está enmarcada por las ideas del Posthumanismo Filosófico y las proposiciones de Marving Minsky y Gordon Pask.
Se han exhibido fragmentos de The Mind Project en Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn y Wasta en Dakota del Sur. Izaguirre es becario alternativo de la Fundación Jerome (2021), becario MoreArt (2020) y galardonado con una subvención del Queens Arts Council (2020). Actualmente trabaja como artista independiente en Nueva York, es miembro de la Asociación de Artistas de la Ciudad de Long Island y es miembro activo de Global Posthuman Network.
Izaguirre es cofundadora y ex-directora creativa (2017-2021) de ROOM: A Sketchbook for Analytic Action, una plataforma psicoanalítica transmedia creada en asociación con la Dra. Hattie Myers de IPTAR; así como miembro de la Junta de la organización humanitaria: Fundación Cuatro Por Venezuela. Además, Izaguirre se desempeña como líder de diseño de Simple 7 Lab, una firma comercial de diseño estratégico con sede en Nueva York especializada en el desarrollo de plataformas transmedia
Bio
Mafe Izaguirre (Venezuela, 1978) is a New York-based artist and a strategic design consultant, specialized in the development of transmedia platforms.
Through experimentation in cybernetics and shamanism, her work inquiries how to navigate the multi-level environment of hybrid platforms, understanding the space of interaction as a body. Her Sensitive Machines™ explore hybrid consciousness. Many people find absurd the idea of machines developing the ability to “feel” emotions. Framed as The Mind Project, Izaguirre unfolds this controversial subject matter of hybrid spiritual systems. Her exploration of the artificial mind is framed by the ideas of the Philosophical Posthumanism, and the propositions of Marving Minsky and Gordon Pask.
Fragments of The Mind Project have been exhibited in Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Wasta in South Dakota. Izaguirre is a Jerome Foundation New Media Alternate Fellow (2021), MoreArt Fellow (2020), and a Queens Arts Council Grant Awardee (2020). She currently works as an independent artist in New York, as member of the Long Island City Artist Association, and is an active integrator of the Global Posthuman Network.
Izaguirre is the co-founder and former Creative Director (2017-2021) of ROOM: A Sketchbook for Analytic Action, a psychoanalytic transmedia platform created in association with Dr. Hattie Myers from IPTAR, as well as a Board Member of the humanitarian organization Cuatro Por Venezuela Foundation. In addition, Izaguirre leads Simple 7 Lab, a commercial strategic design firm based in New York, specializing in the development of transmedia platforms.
